Vintage Tee Sizing Guide

Vintage tees from the '80s, '90s, and early 2000s often run smaller than modern sizing due to changes in manufacturing and "vanity sizing" over the decades. Tag sizes are not reliable—always go by the actual measurements we provide on every listing.

How We Measure We lay each tee flat and measure by hand:

  • Pit-to-Pit (Width): Straight across the chest, just below the armpits (double this for full chest circumference).
  • Length: From the top of the shoulder (next to the collar) straight down to the bottom hem.

General Vintage Tee Fit Guide (approximate modern equivalents)

Vintage Tag Size Pit-to-Pit (inches) Recommended Modern Fit
Small 17–18" XS–Small
Medium 19–20" Small–Medium
Large 21–22" Medium–Large
XL 23–24" Large–XL
XXL 25"+ XL–XXL

These are averages—'80s tees tend to be boxier/shorter, while '90s ones are closer to today's cuts. For the perfect fit, compare our listed measurements to a favorite tee you already own.

Pro tip: Vintage cotton has little stretch, so if you like an oversized look, size up!
